More Than an Organization—A Commitment to Community.
H.O.D. exists because we believe everyone deserves more than a place to live—they deserve a place to feel at home.
Our mission is rooted in the belief that beautiful, affordable housing can strengthen lives, revitalize neighborhoods, and create opportunities for individuals and families to build brighter futures. Every home we develop and every partnership we establish is guided by our commitment to dignity, respect, stewardship, and lasting community impact.
Beginning in Detroit, Michigan, H.O.D. is building a model for community development that combines housing, human development, and strategic partnerships to transform neighborhoods one community at a time.

Why We Exist
H.O.D. was born from a deeply personal experience.
When our founder's mother needed to leave an unhealthy living situation, finding safe and affordable housing became an unexpected challenge. The experience revealed that many people—especially older adults living on fixed incomes—struggle to find housing that is not only affordable, but also welcoming, peaceful, and dignified.
What if affordable housing could feel like home?
From that question, H.O.D. was created. Our vision extends beyond providing housing. We are committed to creating beautiful environments where residents feel respected, connected, and supported while building stronger neighborhoods through thoughtful community development.
Our Story
Detroit is more than the city where H.O.D. began—it is home.
Raised in Detroit, our founder has witnessed both the remarkable strength of its neighborhoods and the challenges many communities continue to face. Those experiences created a desire to serve the city by investing in the people and places that make Detroit unique.
H.O.D. Business Community Outreach was established in 2022 to support entrepreneurs, strengthen communities, and create opportunities for economic sustainability and wellness.
Recognizing that long-term community transformation also requires investment in housing and real estate, H.O.D. Community Ventures, LLC was established in 2025 to acquire, renovate, develop, and manage properties that support neighborhood revitalization while generating sustainable revenue to strengthen the nonprofit's mission.
Together, these organizations operate with one shared purpose.
Creating homes. Developing people. Transforming communities.
Our Mission
H.O.D. Business Community Outreach is dedicated to educating, supporting, and promoting the economic sustainability and overall well-being of minority-owned businesses and the communities they serve.
Through education, partnerships, community development initiatives, and supportive resources, we empower entrepreneurs, business owners, nonprofit organizations, and residents to collaborate in creating stronger neighborhoods, expanding economic opportunity, increasing access to affordable housing, and building healthier, more resilient communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Our Vision
We envision thriving communities where beautiful, affordable housing, successful businesses, and engaged residents work together to create neighborhoods filled with opportunity, wellness, and hope.
Our long-term vision includes expanding H.O.D. Next Phase Homes, developing senior living communities, creating innovative affordable housing solutions, supporting entrepreneurship, and revitalizing neighborhoods through strategic partnerships and responsible community development.
